Dollar Fortunes in the Quarter

Although it has stormed almost every afternoon, this week in New Orleans was just as great as the previous ones. I went down to the French Quarter yesterday to shop around and take photos (and nom some beignets), and I have been loading up my iphone with new music. Enjoy the new acquisitions:

And, In the Middle of the City, A Lighthouse

I recently started reading a novel set in New Orleans by my favorite author, Michael Ondaatje - the book is called Coming Through Slaughter. In other news, I have been enjoying work at the publishing company, cooking, and wandering around New Orleans.

Blank Canvas

They have these signs around downtown New Orleans to drum up interest in the extensive art experiences the city has to offer. I wish I could take them home with me. It's pretty easy to see what they mean when the signs say "life is art" down here.

After I took this photo, a man on the street told me this building was in the movie "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter." I told him I would take his word for it.

Clouds, Strange Clouds...

I had a dream last night that I was driving down a valley to a beautiful beach; but the dream turned to a nightmare as a storm turned the beautiful afternoon cloudy. The people on the beach were all worried, since the waves were beginning to loom larger and head in closer for us. As we looked to the horizon, we watched a blanket of grey sky quickly condense into dark, puffy clouds. And somehow, these clouds revealed to us that we were in for a very bad storm. I looked frantically for something to hold onto as the water came rushing in.

In A Root Beer Float

I was listening to this song the other day while driving around, and for some reason I realized that after the awesome drop at around 1:30, the song makes me feel like I'm swirling around in a fizzy root beer float. I don't know why that popped into my head, but I kinda like it.

I Saw the Signs

Since I've been a little absent from the blog recently, I thought I would throw in a bunch of new tunes and pictures for this post. When I was in New Orleans for a wedding, I started noticing all of the interesting signs (for shops, restaurants, churches, etc), and so I present to you my first somewhat cohesive post of pictures!
